Supporting women in healthcare

UPDATE 6/26: WE HAVE EXCEEDED OUR MATCH POOL AND HAVE RAISED OVER $20,500 IN NINE HOURS FOR WOMEN WORKING IN HEALTHCARE!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok y’all a bunch of us got sick of being sad/mad and woke up in “do epic shit” mode. Help us support women in healthcare! https://donorbox.org/zorya-foundation-support-fund

A generous group of donors has committed to match up to $10,000 in donations made to the Zorya Foundation to support the needs of all women in our healthcare industry. THAT MEANS OUR GOAL IS $20,000 IN TOTAL DONATIONS before FRIDAY 7/1!

Thank you to our generous matching donors: Lisa Bari, MBA, MPH Kathryn Ayers Wickenhauser, MBA, CHPC, CHTS, Nora Belcher, Jaime Bland DNP, RN-BC, Mandira Singh, Kat Kovalchik McDavitt, Leslie Kirk, Kate RIcker-Kiefert, Kary Nulisch and our super nova hero donor Maggie O'Keefe <3

The SCOTUS decision on Roe Vs. Wade only makes it more difficult for women, who were already at a disadvantage.

These funds will be used to support any women working in the healthcare industry (which we define broadly – we don’t care if you’re an office administrator at a pharma company, a healthcare researcher striving for her PhD, or a developer at a health tech start-up) who needs support with:

*Paying for childcare
*Caring for an aging adult (thank you Claudia Williams for this thoughtful and inclusive suggestion)
*Paying for continuing education (Lisa Bari, MBA, MPH's jam)
*Managing unanticipated healthcare costs (thank you Carrie Yasemin Paykoç and Maggie O'Keefe for this suggestion)
*Covering your gas costs to drive extreme distances to find and pay for baby formula during the shortage (Thank you Kate Ricker-Kiefert)
*Or other needs.

If you need help, we are accepting grant applications for our Zorya Fund here: https://lnkd.in/g-YtE9JD. Grants made will be made based on need and will be given in minimum $500 distributions. All grantees and their applications are kept confidential.

We practice trust-based philanthropy. As usual, our funds are direct action, and we provide cash grants to make an immediate impact.

Donations to our flagship fund, the Mothers in Medicine Fund, will be matched out of this same pool. If you donate to the Mothers in Medicine fund—which you can do at www.mothersinmedicine.org, your donation will be used to provide a $1,000 childcare grant to a clinician mother. It will be matched dollar for dollar up to our $10,000 match pool.

Why are our grants only going toward women working in the healthcare space? Well, we’re small, and focus is important to affect change. We believe that women working in our industry have the power to impact incredible change, and so we’re focusing our efforts here. Most of our donors are also from the healthcare industry, and their donations will help lift up our community.

We are giving away special industry treasures every day in a random drawing for each day’s winners. The treasure for 6/27 is a true one-of-a-kind T-shirt featuring the famous Matthew Holt of The Health Care Blog.
