The HLTH Foundation and Zorya Foundation Partner to Provide Childcare Grants at HLTH

Visibility matters for career advancement. And few opportunities exist for greater visibility, networking and learning beyond industry conferences.

According to an opinion piece in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences:

The bottom line is this: Primary caretakers of dependent children face inequitable hurdles to fully attending and participating in conference activities because of responsibilities related to pregnancy, breastfeeding, and caretaking. It’s a serious problem because it creates a culture of inequity for parents, with mothers generally experiencing greater disadvantages than fathers because of biological, prejudicial, and often socially driven childcare demands. With solutions seemingly elusive, many women, and occasionally men, make a calculated decision to forego conference attendance and suffer the career consequences.”

Opportunities to speak and engage face-to-face with others in our industry matter. That’s why we’re excited to announce the HLTH Foundation and the Zorya Foundation have partnered to provide childcare grants to mothers invited to speak at the upcoming HLTH conference—healthcare’s number one innovation event.

The HLTH Foundation and the Zorya Foundation have partnered to offer ten childcare grants of $1,000 each to mothers invited to speak at HLTH 2022. Grants may be used for at-home childcare, to bring children and caregivers to Las Vegas during HLTH, or for any other childcare uses that will make it easier to accept a speaking invitation at this year’s event–no strings attached.

In general, mothers bear the greater responsibility for childcare, which can result in missed opportunities for visibility and networking at events like HLTH. By subsidizing childcare costs, the HLTH Foundation and Zorya Foundation aim to level the playing field and alleviate a barrier to opportunity for mothers attending HLTH 2022 as speakers.

HLTH takes pride in bringing the industry’s foremost leaders to the stage and in taking care of the people who do business with us. We are committed to safeguarding workforce equity and promoting a great experience for all invited speakers as well as HLTH’s attendees.

We’re thrilled to partner with organizations leading the way for excellence and equity in our industry, and proud to be a part of this collaboration with the HLTH Foundation to support women speaking at HLTH.
